DTEA Sr, Secondary School,
D.T.E.A. Senior Secondary School, Janakpuri was established on 8th October 1973 on Vijayadasami Day. The school was initially started in a single room in the residence of Shri S. Padmanabhan (C2B, Janakpuri) who was the Founder member of Janakpuri Tamil Association in 1974. The land, where the school stands at present, was allotted by the D.D.A. The primary classes were conducted in wooden structures in the initial stage. After the allotment of the land, the Janakpuri Tamil Association handed over the land to DTEA. The 1st Batch of students of class X appeared for the CBSE Board Examination in the year 1977-78. The school attained the status of a recognized school in the year 1976. HIS HOLINESS JAGATGURU SHANKARACHARYA – SHRI ABHINAVA VIYATEERTHA SWAMIJI OF SHRINGERI SHARADAA PEETH on Sunday the 15th May 1977, laid the foundation stone of the school. H.E. ROBERT.L.WADE-GERY, BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER IN INDIA on 1st May 1985, laid the foundation of the 1st Block. The British High Commission donated a sum of Rs. 1,00,000/- for the construction of the 1st Block. 
His Holiness Jagatguru Shankaracharya Shri Jayendraa Saraswathi Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakodi Peetam laid the foundation of the 2nd Block on 22nd October 1986. The school was brought under Grant-in Aid from Delhi Administration on 1st May 1981 and was upgraded to Senior Secondary Status in the year 1988. Today this school with a student population of more than 1336 and faculty members of About 63. This is one of the best school in Dist West B Vikas Puri. STATE AWARDEE Mrs. Sundari Anantha Narayanan, PGT (Eng.) Retired was conferred with best teacher state Award in the year 1996. PRESENT INFRASTRUCTURE The school constitutes a main Block i.e. 3 storied Building with 33 class rooms, 12 Rooms in the Ground Floor, 7 Class rooms in 1st Floor and 10 rooms in the Second Floor, 3 Laboratories and 1 Library and one Computer room. Apart from these, a separate Room for Principal, office in the Ground Floor. In each Floor, separate Toilets for boys and girls are available. Behind the main Block- a multipurpose hall namely Silver Jubilee Hall with seating capacity of 350 people used for various functions and meeting with a spacious stage is available, At present 3 rooms are being constructed in the first floor to be used for class rooms. P.E.T. rooms, staff room for primary are available in the ground floor and Secondary & Senior Secondary staff rooms are available in the 1st floor.
