It was 75 years ago that a noble and dedicated teacher, who intuitively foresaw the future of Tamilian growth in the capital, started an educational institution with one teacher and one student. Today the Delhi Tamil Education Association, popularly known as D.T.E.A. (formally called M.E.A, Madrasi Education Association) stands high aloft with seven senior secondary schools under one management like a big banyan tree imparting education of the highest degree, class and calibre at the lowest cost to more than 7000 students with a staff strength of around 500. It hopes to open more branches to fulfil its cherised goal and the fond advice of Karmayogi Kamaraj, that every Tamilian child in the capital should get education from Delhi Tamil Education Association.
This institution has produced brilliant educationalist, scholars, scientists, engineers, medical luminaries, able administrators and defence personnel who still cherish fond memories of their alma- mater.
The Governing Body duly constituted out of 3000 parent members by annual election, runs seven branches in a highly commendable and democratic manner, earning full cooperation from the Directorate of Education, Delhi Administration and the Central Board of Secondary Education.
