The History The School started as a Primary School in September 1961 and was raised to Middle School status in 1963. It was functioning under the jurisdiction of the Delhi Municipal Corporation till May 1970 when it attained Higher Secondary status and came under the Directorate of Education, Delhi Administration. For a dozen years, the school has been having improvised tents and the children are exposed in varying measure to the vagaries of the weather. A release from this condition came to sight when the President of the D.T.E.A. Shri G.Bhuvarahan, MP , took a firm initiative and organised steps for the construction of the building. The PTA has been enthusiastic in its assistance and co-operation. On 23rd April 1972, Dr. Kalaignar Thiru M.Karunanidhi, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, laid the Foundation Stone of the proposed building. Since then work on the building has been proceeding quite briskly.
The most substantial contribution to the cost of the building has come from the Government of Tamil Nadu. In response to appeals from the PTA, a number of friends and well-wishers, including many having no direct interest in the school, have also sent in contributions towards the building. A few functions organized by the PTA with the object of raising funds have also yielded considerable response to this noble cause. The School has now 640 pupils on its rolls, half of them girls, and has a teaching staff of 27 and ministerial staff of 8. With the introduction of the Eleventh Class in the current year, the School has attained full-fledged higher secondary status, and the first batch of pupils will be taking the Central Board Higher Secondary Examination in March 1973.
